Yesterday, I tried a 40mm Panerai and a 44mm one (a 361). Personally, I liked the 44mm size more (looked more like a classic Panerai).

If any watch brand has changed our self perceptions of "what is too big for me," it is Panerai. Traditional watch size-to-wrist ratio logic does not apply to Paneristi--exceptionalism at its best. A lot of my friends in Asia rock Panerai with smaller wrists than even mine (6.5").I know that the Panerai timepieces are bold and that they tend to run larger, but I don’t have very big wrists and the 44mm is mammoth on me. This is a 42mm and while it feels huge, I’m not sure if it looks alright or if I should drop down the the 40mm.

I have a 6.5" wrist and had 43-44mm watches, but later sold them because they were too big. Found that out after getting 39mm and 40mm watches which were the ideal size for my wrist. Is this too big for my wrist? : r/panerai

I have a small wrist (6.75 inch diameter) and I went with a 44mm only because when I think of Panerai, I think big. I tried on a 40 and it looked great on but something in the back of my head was nagging me to take it off. I'm after a Panerai and visited a local AD to try out some models. I really cannot decide between a 44mm or 42mm case size. I'm not too concerned with the price difference or resale value. Panerai is still making plenty unabashedly oversized watches, with several coming in at 44 to 47 mm (and wearing even larger thanks to their cushion case shape and frequent use of large crown protectors). This kind of watchmaking is, if you’ll pardon the cliche, a part of Panerai's watchmaking DNA.

I’ve had a 44 luminor and 45 Radiomir which I thought was pushing the upper end that my wrist could handle. However, there are a number of 47mm that I like but have shied away from because of size. This post has encouraged me to at least try one.
